Home Exercise Program

Superman Crunch

Long, then curled. The superman crunch makes the front and the back of the trunk take turns in one movement. Here is what it builds and what to watch for.

01Home Exercise

Front and back of the trunk, taking turns.

Extending the body long and then curling it back in works both sides of the trunk in a single movement, and the balance between them is what holds a child upright when they are sitting, climbing, or carrying a loaded backpack. Watch for smooth, controlled changes of direction rather than a rushed flop between the two positions, and a neck that stays long in both halves of the movement.

Good to Know

This is a general movement idea, not a personal program. Your child's own home program should come from the therapist who has evaluated them. Call us at (914) 939-6400 →
