Yes. New York State law requires a physician's prescription for physical therapy services for children. Your pediatrician can write one, and our physician resources page lists the ICD-10 codes and referral details they will need. You are welcome to book a free 15 minute consultation with us first, before you have a prescription in hand, so you know whether therapy is even the right next step.
Developmental Steps is an out of network practice that works with many carriers to help families get their child's care covered, including Anthem BCBS, Blue Cross Blue Shield Omnicom, Cigna, Empire Plan Orthonet, GEHA Orthonet, Magnacare, Optum, SWSCHP, United Healthcare/NYS Empire Plan and United Healthcare/Oxford. What you pay out of pocket depends on your specific plan. Call us and we will help you work out what your plan covers.
Individual treatment sessions are 45 minutes. Group and class sessions vary in length depending on the program. Dress your child in comfortable play clothes such as shorts and a tee shirt, and please leave outside food and drink at home, since we have families with allergies in the building.
Credit card, cash or check. Families are billed on a monthly statement, except for community programs and classes, which are paid at registration.
Yes. Development Steps is a CPSE provider. No. Developmental Steps is not a public Early Intervention. Many of the families here are already receiving those services and come to us for additional support alongside them, and many others come to us because they do not want to wait out an approval process before starting, or are on a waitlist with early intervention. Either way, we work with where your child is now.
Comfortable play clothes. Shorts and a tee shirt are ideal. Your child will be moving, climbing and playing for most of the session.
We ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations may be charged, because that time was held for your child.
