Help Children Build Skills That Carry Into Everyday Life

Pediatric Occupational Therapy is about more than completing activities during an appointment.

It is about helping children develop the fine motor, sensory, visual-motor, self-care, regulation, and functional skills they need to participate successfully at home, in school, and within their communities.

At Developmental Steps, you will have the opportunity to evaluate each child’s individual needs and create engaging treatment plans that make therapy both meaningful and enjoyable.

Your work may help children improve:

  • Fine motor skills
  • Handwriting and classroom participation
  • Visual-motor integration
  • Sensory processing and regulation
  • Motor planning
  • Executive functioning
  • Coordination and body awareness
  • Self-care and daily living skills
  • Attention and participation
  • Confidence and independence

Work Across Clinical and School-Based Settings

This role provides the opportunity to support children in multiple environments.

You will work within our pediatric clinics in Mount Kisco and Port Chester, while also treating children within a local school district.

This variety allows you to understand how each child functions across different settings and collaborate with the parents, teachers, therapists, and support professionals involved in their care.

Depending on your schedule and caseload, you may:

  • Evaluate and treat children in our clinics
  • Provide Occupational Therapy services within a school district
  • Develop individualized, goal-based treatment plans
  • Address educationally relevant functional needs
  • Collaborate with teachers, families, and school personnel
  • Recommend strategies that support classroom participation
  • Help families carry skills and strategies into the home
  • Monitor progress and adjust treatment based on each child’s response

One-on-One Care That Keeps the Child at the Center

Every child develops differently. That is why our therapy is individualized.

You will provide one-on-one treatment during 30 or 45-minute appointments, giving you the opportunity to understand each child, build trust, and adapt your approach based on their needs, interests, and goals.

You will have the freedom to make sessions creative, playful, and developmentally appropriate while still working toward meaningful functional outcomes.

Mentorship for New Graduate Occupational Therapists

Beginning your career in pediatric Occupational Therapy should not mean figuring everything out alone.

You will receive:

  • Support with evaluations and treatment planning
  • Opportunities to discuss cases and ask questions
  • Help navigating school-based and outpatient pediatric care
  • Feedback to strengthen your clinical reasoning

Our goal is to help you become a confident, creative, and capable pediatric Occupational Therapist.

Are you ready for a career, not just another job?

As a Pediatric Physical Therapist, are you passionate about working with children, helping them achieve developmental milestones, and building strong relationships with their families? If you’re looking for more than just a job—a true career where you can grow, thrive, and transform young lives—then this opportunity might be the perfect fit for you.

Hi, I’m Hayley Apiscopa, co-owner of Developmental Steps, LLC, and I’d love to share my story with you.

Like many of you, I began my career in traditional physical therapy settings, treating a variety of patients across different age groups. However, I knew there was something special about pediatric care. I realized that the joy of helping children overcome their developmental challenges was where my true passion lay.

When I first started out I remember coming home late at night, frustrated and burned out, wondering if this was really what I signed up for. Sure, I learned a lot from those jobs, but deep down, I knew I wanted to be different… and I think you do, too.

That’s when I went all in with Developmental Steps, LLC—being a part of building a place where physical therapy isn’t just a job; it’s a calling to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children. A space where children receive 1-on-1, focused care—no double bookings, no distractions.

Over the years, we’ve grown, helping children not only reach developmental milestones but also thrive in ways their families never thought possible. What I’m most proud of is the nurturing, energetic culture we’ve built, where both patients and therapists flourish.

At Developmental Steps, LLC, the metrics we care about aren’t volume or revenue; they’re patient satisfaction and team retention. We want to maintain a culture that promotes staff retention, professional growth, and personal development.

Don’t just take our word for it. Our commitment to patient care is reflected in glowing testimonials from parents and our 5-star reviews across multiple platforms. Here’s what some of our patients’ families are saying:

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – “My son’s progress has been amazing, thanks to Developmental Steps. The therapists truly care and have a unique approach that’s made all the difference.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ – “We feel so lucky to have found Hayley and her team. Our daughter loves coming here, and her progress has exceeded all our expectations.”

The field of Pediatric Physical Therapy is thriving, not just surviving. There has never been a better time to specialize in pediatrics, with countless children needing expert care. We’re not just treating patients; we’re transforming lives.
