Sensory Processing

Does your child have difficulty with self-regulation and avoids or seeks out environmental input?

Sensory processing issues involve difficulty organizing and responding to information from the senses (sight, sound, smell, taste, touch, balance, and body awareness). Individuals may be over-sensitive (hypersensitive), under-sensitive (hyposensitive), or sensory-seeking, causing behaviors like severe picky eating, irritability with clothing, and poor motor coordination. Children are often seen having difficulty regulating their emotions and calming their bodies. They can present as unattentive, rigid and/or controlling. Our trained occupational therapist can help your child work through these challenges, learning strategies to help them with interpreting sensory information and becoming successful in various environments.
